About
“Praising You” is a collaboration between British singer-songwriter, Rita Ora and British record producer/disc jockey Fatboy Slim (Norman Quentin Cook). This was released on 19 April 2023 through BMG, as the second single from her upcoming third studio album You & I (2023). The song is a re-worked version of Slim’s 1998 song “Praise You”.
“At Brighton, my local football team, they play it at the end of every game. It’s bittersweet depending on whether we won or lost, but we have come a long, long way together in the hard times AND the good. Now you’ve taken it on to another generation,” he says to Ora. “This is the third incarnation now, a third different audience, and a third slightly different meaning.”

To not only get Norman’s stamp of approval, but to actually collaborate with him and pay homage to such a massive song from my childhood was truly a surreal experience. I think this record means something different for everyone, but from my perspective, it’s about praising your loved ones and really celebrating those relationships. I’m a huge fan of Fatboy Slim-he’s one of the reasons I love electronic music-and I started thinking, hypothetically, if he were to say yes to me sampling “Praise You”, what would the song sound like? I wanted to give him something where he could see the life in it, and that I had this passion and drive, and I really believed in it, because I really did. So we made ‘Praising You’, and if he didn’t like it, of course it wouldn’t have gone anywhere. But he said, ‘You’ve really taken this sample that I took from this song from the 70s and you’ve done a really good job. You’ve really brought it into the now. I’m very proud to hand it over to you! loved that, that was a huge deal for me. Performing it together for the first time at Glastonbury was emotional because it went from me very much stalking him at that festival, wanting to meet him as a fan, to being on stage with him for his headline slot. It felt fantastic.
