Neighborhood: Sé
Sé, which derives its name from Sé Square, is a central neighborhood in historic São Paulo. Close by, the Law School, the Museum of the Court of Justice and the Metropolitan Cathedral offer inspiring architecture. If you are looking for cultural activities, head to Caixa Cultural and check the schedule. In the area there is a popular pedestrian street called “Rua Direita”, one of the first streets in the region, which today marks the crowded perimeter. Sé is a great area to explore during daytime, but use caution if visiting alone at night.
How to get there

The Cathedral itself is very nice, however the area it is in is not. As I walked out the Cathedral a man was taking a picture of it in broad day light. Another man came out of a crowd of people on a bicycle, rode by, and grabbed the phone out of the other mans hands before he knew what happened. The brazenness to do that in day light and in front of a church! I immediately got an Uber and left. As a previous person stated this was the only time they did not feel safe and I felt the same. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT GO TO THIS AREA.

The cathedral is beautiful and that is not discussed ... but the surroundings are dangerous, many robberies, it is very dirty and many homeless people asking for money.

there are many churches throughout the country, but this is one of the more significant. worth the stop on its own, but it is that much more interesting when you consider this architectural work in the lense of its european inspiration that transcended the great ocean distance.

The cathedral itself is amazing, it's really nice. But I wouldn't recommend any strolling around it, as the surroundings looked not secure at all.
Everyone looked at us strangely, many locals asked us for some money and when a police patrol went around us, looking at us somehow weirdly, I decided to go back inside the cathedral quickly and call an Uber.
So the cathedral itself is worth visiting, but the surroundings doesn't. During my entire travel through Brazil I felt safe all the time except for this short walking around this magnificent building.

Would definitely recommend making time to visit. The cathedral is very impressive both inside and out. The surrounding area is a bit sketchy so go during the middle of the day. But definitely worth the time to visit.

The cathedral is located in the absolute city centre. But the enviroment is rough and I did not feel 100% secure during my 15 minutes visit. The cathedral is fantatstic from outside. Take a nice picture and step inside for a short visit and then arrange a transport from the site.

É sim. Bastante policiamento. Mas como disse, muitos moradores de rua. Isso acaba assustando um pouco quem não conhece São Paulo. Mas reforço que não vejo problemas em visitar a região.
