- Both copies of this pressing that I own have a skip in the exact same spot during the second chorus of People Gotta Move.

After listen to this one for several times, I can tell that is one of the best albums made by Gino Vannelli, even knowing he was a kid when he did this.
Very first the pressing, it's not the big deal, vinyl is neither thick nor flat, very normal for a 70s Mexican record, but I found it to be very sibilant and not as strong as B side which I found to sound better than A side. If you find it VG+ go ahead and buy it. You will find it under 5 bucks.
Now the music, again Vannelli's lyrics are not his thing, but come on, who wants lyrics when you have Joe Vannelli and Richard Baker in your band? These 2 gentleman gave Gino a powerful sound which is easily recognized by not using guitars and basses, replacing bass guitar for a synth-bass (organ-bass) that sounds very funky played by Richard Baker. Percussion and drums by John Mandel and Graham Lear respectively. The known songs here are People Gotta Move, Powerful People and Felicia, but the record contains much more, like Lady, Son Of A New York Son, Jack Miraculous (very very 70s sound), Jo, Jo, the tribute to Jimmy Croce, wow! A futuristic but at the same time a modern album from 1974, still sounding awesome 45 years after. A big step from his first album!- Such a cool record. I picked this up on a whim because I know MFSL doesn’t take the time to work on an album that sucks. As soon as I heard the second track my jaw dropped as I realized NxWorries/Anderson .Pakk sampled this. Do not hesitate to grab this if you get the chance
- Incredible sounding pressing. Another steller record that gets sold so cheaply because people don't know what it is. They're missing out.
- Edited 2 years agoGreat quality and super quiet. Found a copy that looks completely unplayed for $1.00 at a Mesa, AZ thrift store. The people that process vinyl just don't seem to realize what MFSL is, or how high some titles can fetch Places like Goodwill rush and almost harass employees to get it all out there as fast as possible. They do not use eBay or discogs as a useful tool like they should. Goodwill throws everything away if the price tag "color" doesn't sell by so many weeks. It goes in the trash and they will not give back to other non-profits, or donate. They recycle very little and are truly greedy pigs. Don't support them !

Gino Vannelli (Montreal (Quebec), June 16, 1952) is a Canadian singer and songwriter. By his singing and writing talent to combine with pop, rock, jazz and classical music, he has developed a distinctive sound that since the 1970s, according to his fans of particular beauty.- I found this in the fifty cent bins at my local record store. I remembered Gino's hit from the 80's, so I picked it up and am fairly pleased. Vocals are very strong, but the arrangements don't always stand the test of time (80's synthesizer, electric piano). Worth a listen if you find it cheap.
