      Critics Consensus

A nearly passable attempt at children's entertainment that pales in comparison to less pandering fare, Postman Pat: The Movie doesn't get the job done.

Ethan G Mechanically animated and stealing from other, better children's animated films, "Postman Pat: The Movie" carries none of the charming essence of the original show and fails in the area of entertaining. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/01/23 Full Review StephenPaul C The greatest 01 hour: and 28 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/14/23 Full Review Kickstarter N I don't believe anyone asked for a movie where Postman Pat goes onto a SINGING COMPETITION. It's just so incredibly jarring and overall out of place, especially since you can tell they really didn't know what they were doing with this plot; send this one back to the post office, thank you very much. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Greatest movie of all time Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Not enjoyable at all. Aimed at kids, but it has a plot that I wouldn't have understood as a child. Will not be watching it again Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member People might think I'm crazy for putting 5 stars; Here's why. Ever since I was 5 years old I've watched this movie a lot, so I grew up with it. & to be honest I'm fine with the storyline even though it does go a bit over the top, especially for Postman Pat standards! I liked it a lot. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Jake Wilson Sydney Morning Herald As children's entertainment, [it] is pretty wretched. Character designs are rudimentary, plot points are set up and never paid off, and halfway through the closing musical number the animators appear to forget that Pat is meant to be moving his lips. Rated: 1.5/5 Aug 14, 2014 Full Review Sherilyn Connelly Village Voice One of the best family films to come down the pike this year, and not just because this year has also brought us The Nut Job and Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return. Jun 29, 2014 Full Review Ben Kenigsberg New York Times Viewers unencumbered by nostalgia will probably see this zippy, occasionally funny movie as no more frantic or pop-culture-addled than the average multiplex fodder. Jun 26, 2014 Full Review Paula Fleri-Soler Times of Malta [It's] ends up juggling too many issues, and can't decide whether it's a modernizing of a popular children's character. Mar 6, 2019 Full Review Jamie Neish CineVue All the series' wholesomeness has been sucked dry not only by the script's lifelessness, but also by the shift from traditional stop-motion animation to cost-effective CGI. Rated: 1/5 Aug 13, 2018 Full Review Francesca Rudkin New Zealand Herald There's a smattering of adult friendly humour, but Postman Pat: The Movie is aimed at the littlies.
