We chose to stay in the hotel adjacent to the hot springs for three nights to have a little break on our Borneo adventure. It was a good decision as the hot springs were a great place to relax. The 50 ringgit entrance/park conservation fee covered us for three days and, as well as the pools, we enjoyed visiting the butterfly park, the waterfall and the canopy walk (quite a challenge in the heat but felt very proud once we had completed it). We ate in the Rainforest Restaurant at least twice a day as the food was lovely and the service excellent.

Poring hot spring is a great place to visit. Kids will enjoy this place very much for its hot spring pools. It also has a jungle trail to reach a waterfall. They also provide accommodation where you can stay and enjoy the stay.

From Kinabalu National Park, we drove about 50 mins to Poring Hot Springs, At the ticket Counter, an entrance fee of Rm3 per pax is paid. Carpark is huge with plenty of parking space.Thus not difficult to find a parking spot. We took a tour inside Exhibition Gallery. It has a detailed write up and posters displayed on Poring Hot Spring. Exhibition also gives narrative on the fauna & flora of the region. There are lots of directory signages providing information, Park Rules and directions for visitors to find their way around the Park. It was crowed with visitors, a fee is chargeable to use the Slide Pool and Bathtubs. It has many booths filled with hot springs. From our observation, the rectangular shape tub with roof are for soaking of feet while those round tubs are for full body soaking. At the ticket counter , the charges for these tubs are written as “Open and Closed Bathtubs” . Once you have paid, you will be issued a tub stopper , choose your Spot , put the tub stopper onto the outlet ,turn on the tap to fill up the water to dip your body in it. Inside the tub are 2 taps that contain both hot water from natural hotspring and cold water from the waterfall , thus you be able to enjoy both nature source water. Not only one could dip themselves inside the hot spring pool but to explore the Park area with different floras and faunas, however we did not have the time to take the Canopy Walk or have a walk to the Waterfall Area.!!! Thus Poring Hot Spring is a great place to relax, with many other activities ,it is a must visit destination !

I found this place to be a bit of a strange combination. It's part eco-lodge with nice walks and a large butterfly house, part hot springs, part swimming pool, part children's venue and part restaurant. There's a jungle canopy walkway (which I didn't go on). The restaurant served a good lunch. THe butterfly house was rather old and tatty, and not too many butterflies in there, but the ones we did see were very colourful.
