      Critics Consensus

Much like the toys it advertises, Playmobil: The Movie seems sadly destined to be regarded as a superficially similar yet less desirable alternative to the competition.

Audience Member Maybe I am easy to please. Sure, this box office bomb with terrible reviews by critics is not the original Lego movie. But it follows that idea and this time throws Playmobil characters into all sorts of situations in various worlds, or mixes thereof. The film is entertaining with good voice acting and without major flaws in the story: a good way to get your kiddos interested in Playmobil, if you so desire. BTW, the movie has Anya Taylor-Joy in it, not only as a voice. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Coretta G slow start... good message at the end Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/18/19 Full Review Ramesh Paltoo Like a lego movie, good for the kids. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/18/19 Full Review Michelle H It was ok I wouldn’t waste money to watch it at the movies though wait until it’s out on DVD or rent to stream. My husband fell asleep 4 times through it during the movie not a good thing. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/18/19 Full Review jennifer It’s was a great movie. Roxana Hadadi Chesapeake Family Magazine There is a gentleness and simplicity to the adventure-seeking vibe of Playmobil: The Movie that will work particularly well for very young audiences. Rated: 3/5 Dec 27, 2019 Full Review Kimberley Jones Austin Chronicle This is a vastly inferior toy-to-film IP expansion, with duller songs, dumber jokes, and forgettable voice work. Rated: 0/5 Dec 12, 2019 Full Review Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald There's a plot in there somewhere, but most of the time it's subsumed by a frenetic attempt to showcase the whole Playmobil range in an extended kinetic eruption of primal sound and primary colour. Rated: 2/5 Dec 11, 2019 Full Review Cris Kennedy The Canberra Times (Australia) Filmmakers are working its way down to the very bottom of the toy box with Playmobil: The Movie. Rated: 3/5 Nov 27, 2020 Full Review Tom Beasley VultureHound It might be a generic animated adventure for most of its runtime, but there's a sense of uncomplicated joy to Playmobil: The Movie that makes it a really enjoyable ride.
