Trending News: The Iconic Wristwatch Gets Revamped With An Automatic Twist

Why Is This Important?

It’s a modern take of the timeless wristwatch that now boasts automatic precision movement in a stainless steel frame.

Long Story Short

Piaget aims to change the game by creating a collection of watches that embody the brand’s opulent design pedigree, while featuring updated timekeeping technology for a new generation.

Long Story

In 1979, the Swiss luxury watchmaker set the standard for casual and elegant wristwear when launching one of the greatest watches ever in the Piaget Polo. Four decades deep and it’s embracing change, getting with the times to build what Piaget claims to be the “perfect marriage between elegance and refinement,” only at a cost-friendly value. Introducing the Piaget Polo S — the first complete collection of only-steel watches in the Polo series

Expressing the “grammar of shapes that is at the heart of the Piaget DNA,” the new Piaget Polo collection radiates in affluence, while boasting a retroactive presence that challenges the conventions of its traditional wristwatches by integrating an automatic precision movement into a stainless steel design. It’s a timepiece Piaget brags can be worn “by day or by night, at work or at play,” resonating with modern watch collectors looking to advance their social etiquette.

Notice the Piaget’s shape-within-shape design, a hallmark of the watchmaker, flaunting a sapphire case-back to showcase movement, as perfectionist hand-assembled links complement the Polo S’ premium satin finish. This is all followed with the distinct association of a cushion-shaped dial housed within a round 42mm case. Call it a work of engineering art.

To usher in the new generation of Piaget watches, the brand welcomed international brand ambassador, Ryan Reynolds, who serves as one of the nine men chosen for the Piaget Polo S Game Changers campaign. Honored to be involved with the partnership, Reynolds spoke about the collection and its heirloom-esque significance.

“Let me tell you about this thing. It’s beautiful. I always think it’s interesting for men, at least for a very few, these accessories that you keep your entire life. You have an opportunity to hand something down. For me, my daughter is obsessed with this watch. I’ve been wearing it the past week, but what she doesn’t know is that her initials are engraved in the back of it. And one day I’ll assume it will be hers. I love it.”

Award him father of the year. Reynolds joins an exclusive group of game changers including actor Michael B. Jordan, musician Miyavi, chef Jean-Francois Piege, artist Mohammed Sultan Al Habtoor, tennis player David Goffin, actor/singer Hue Ge, novelist Joel Dicker, and polo player Malcom Borwick. Impressive squad.

The Piaget Polo S Collection is made available in five options with the Polo S ($9,350) coming in a blue, silvered or slate-gray dial, where the Polo S Chronograph ($12,400) sold in a silvered or blue dial. We’re still awaiting release details. So until then, wind up, gents!
