Ode to the Mets lyrics: "they all wait" or "the old ways?
Just wanted to get this cleared up, as even established song lyrics websites have different versions for this line, and even after listening closely multiple times I can't establish for sure what Julian says.
So, which one is correct:
"(They all wait) / (The old ways) at the bottom
Of the ocean now has swallowed (...)"
Old ways
Source?
The New Abnormal book
Well, that settles it then! Thank you <3
Finally owning this book has come in handy.
Huh, they spelt Rubik's wrong
Thanks so much!!
Definitely Old Ways..the video confirms this with the old photo juxtaposition too.
Many newer songs from strokes and voidz have unclear lyrics with potential double meanings.
Does anyone here have the Official TNA book- that they could share the Ode lyrics here? I am not sure myself lol. I thought it was “old ways” but now I’m torn….
We definitely need this to settle the matter - even the replies to this post are split right down the middle so far!
I always heard it as “they all lay”
I love the idea of "they all wait"
They all wait
Using context clues, I choose to think that its they all wait, referring to the "old friends", waiting at the bottom of the ocean.
Also, the way the verse is structured is that each line connects to one another (ie bottom of... the ocean, old times... forgotten.) Each sentence feeds into one another.
Old ways doesn't really do that, as it doesn't really connect to friends.
That's exactly what I always thought. Yet, some fairly reliable sources say it's "old ways", as well as a bunch of people here now. Even those commenting on this post seem to be split right down the middle...
