Would some of their solo songs be more highly rated...
if they were under the name 'The Beatles'?
I believe there are numerous Beatles level songs in their solo careers.
When I see a song like Rocky Raccoon so highly rated, or Piggies or some even like Revolution 9. It makes me think well just imagine if McCartney had brought out Junk, Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey, Jenny Wren. Or if the Beatles had released as much of a banger as Caesar Rock - far better song than Helter Skelter imo. It absolutely bangs.
Or if Harrison with the Beatles had released Be Here Now, Learning How To Love You, Your Love is Forever. Even his leftover song I Live For You. I'm having them over at least half of Harrison's Beatles songs. Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth) would be one of Beatles best songs imo.
Or Lennon's Woman. That is one of the greatest love ballads of all time imo. Beautiful Boy a stunning song dedicated to his son Sean. Bless You, Out of The Blue. Really great songs. And I'm Losing You has to be the grooviest, smooth rocker I've ever heard.
If Ringo had released Photograph with the Beatles then that definitely beats almost every song he sang in the Beatles. Maybe only With a Little Help from My Friends beats it. But it's a close 2nd for me.
I'm often amazed that some Beatles fans aren't fans of their solo work. They really were great in the 70s and beyond imo. For McCartney, he's matured as a songwriter and I think there's plenty of upper tier Macca tunes from 2005 to this present day.
Anyone not aware of all their music, I really do recommend a journey through their post Beatles work. I don't like all of it. And I probably have a very unpopular opinion of POB, as I don't like that one so much. But there's so many great songs to discover which to me is like one big extension on the brilliance of the 60s. They really did carry on being great. But all just my opinion of course!
Yes, And some of the Beatles songs would be less highly rated if released as solo songs. The Beatles brand offers a lot of prestige.
Agree 100%
Lennon's Woman, McCartney's Jet, and Harrison's What is Life would have been really interesting Beatles songs. With Ringo's No No Song as a fun little palette cleanser haha.
None of the solo music had the three part vocal harmonies, they couldn’t duplicate that magic.
I don't know about that. The harmonies on McCartney's RAM are incredible.
I love the Beatles harmonies but some of their best songs don't have backing vocal harmonies like Yesterday, And I Love Her, For No One, Tomorrow Never Knows, Within You Without You, Strawberry Fields Forever.
It's one part of it. But for me it's not the be all and end all.
"Yesterday" doesn't have three-part vocal harmonies, and it seems to have done pretty well.
These counter-factual Beatles takes are ridiculous. You people do not live in the real world.
What is factual? It's just an opinion on music
a very obvious observation
No love for Highway 61 and Nashville Skyline.
