Source: Cowboys Sign Missouri RB Peat as UDFA; Zeke Competition?
FRISCO - The Dallas Cowboys - almost stubbornly, to some critics - failed to select a running back in the NFL Draft.
But after the completion of the process on Saturday, they began their traditional pursuit of undrafted free agents.
And a source tells CowboysCountry.com that they got themselves a UDFA who actually plays the position.
Nathanial "Nate'' Peat should be coming to The Star with some impressive-enough credentials, even though he wasn't deemed good enough to draft.
He ran a 4.32 40 at his Pro Day, and his vertical leap registered at 41 inches. The school lists him at 5-10, 206, though he may be smaller than that ...
But his parents both ran track at University of Wisconsin. So there's that.
Dallas intended on grabbing a back in this draft, but instead may end up only re-grabbing Ezekiel Elliott in a reunion with the once-cut vet who owner Jerry Jones insists is still "a starter in this league.''
And what is Peat? We have no idea ... except that he's a Cowboy.
Here's the Draft class:
Round 1, pick 24 - OT Tyler Guyton (Oklahoma)
Round 2, pick 56 - DE Marshawn Kneeland (Western Michigan)
Round 3, pick 73 - G/C Cooper Beebe (Kansas State)
