Houston-Perry "Buddy" Lee Benson, Jr. 79, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo. He was born in Oktibbeha County on March 1, 1943 to the late Perry Lee Benson, Sr. and Maggie Ollie Scoggins Benson. He was a Veteran of the US Navy and a member of Arbor Grove Baptist Church. He was a charter bus driver and mechanic for Starkville Buses in Starkville.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Arbor Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Taylor Chisolm and Bro. Jason Brassfield officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service at the church, Wednesday. Burial will be at Chickasaw Memorial Gardens in Houston. Memorial Funeral Home of Houston is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Faye Lowrey Benson of Houston; two daughters, Tina Benson Young (Alan) of Houston and Leigh Ann Juckes (Mike) of McCondy; his grandchildren, Tyler Young of Starkville, Tayla Young of Houston, Shane Juckes and McKenzie Juckes both of McCondy; his sister, Shirley "Jo" McClelland (Steve) of Starkville; a host of nieces and nephews; his caregiver, Diane Lyles and his special friends and neighbors, Lester, Kim and Zack Boren of Houston.
He is preceded in death by a sister, Martha Christopher; two brothers, Johnny Benson and Edward Benson.
Pallbearers will be Clay Hillhouse, Bill Blissard, Jamie Smith, Payton Smith, Zack Boren, and Lester Boren.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7, Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Houston.
