Major General Paul Woolever Newgarden (24 February 1892 - 14 July 1944)[1] was an American general during World War II. Prior to his death he commanded the 10th Armored Division (United States). The 10th Armored Division "Tigers” played a key role in several engagements during World War II. While Major General William H. H. Morris took the "Tigers" into battle, Newgarden was the first to command and train them. Newgarden died in a plane crash over Chattanooga, Tennessee while returning to Fort Knox.
