The Animals founder and influential keyboardist Alan Price turns 82
Alan Price was born on April 19, 1942, in Fatfield, England. A self-taught musician, he was a founding member of the Tyneside group “The Alan Price Rhythm and Blues Combo”, which was later renamed the Animals. His distinctive organ-playing on songs by the Animals, such as “The House of the Rising Sun”, “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood” and “Bring It On Home to Me” was a key element in the group’s success and turned him into one of the most influential Rock keyboardists during the 1960’s. After leaving the Animals, Price went on to have success on his own with his own band the Alan Price Set and later with Georgie Fame. Throughout his career, he has formed and joined several bands and music projects, participating also in three The Animals reunions. Currently, Price who also acted in films and television productions lives a calmer life with his wife Alison Thomas.
