Manchester United and Leeds United shared the spoils in their Premier League clash on Wednesday evening.

United were high on confidence going into the match and hoped to close the gap to Arsenal at the top of the table to five points.

Leeds, meanwhile, have been poor in recent months and were without a Premier League win since the start of November.

All indications pointed towards a routine United victory.

But that was not what happened.

Leeds took the lead with just 55 seconds on the clock courtesy of Wilfried Gnonto's beauty.

The away side then doubled their advantage a few minutes after half-time when Raphael Varane put the ball in his own net.

United battled back, though, and managed to secure a point thanks to two goals in eight minutes from Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho.

Lisandro Martinez clashes with Patrick Bamford in Man Utd vs Leeds

Man Utd could well have gone down to 10-men in first time stoppage time.

Lisandro Martinez and Patrick Bamford both fell to the ground after a 50-50 challenge.

The Man United defender's boot then made contact with Bamford's head not once, but twice.

Martinez then stood up and looked over Bamford while he was in pain on the floor.

The Argentine escaped punishment, with neither the referee or VAR deeming it a red card offence. View the moment below...

"Is it intentional? It it servere? I certainly think he knows what he's doing..." the commentator said of Martinez's actions.

Fortunately for United, Martinez was not sent off and they fought back to earn a point.

Man United remain in third, Leeds move up table

United remain in third and seven points behind Arsenal following the draw.

Leeds, meanwhile, have moved up to 16th and are one point clear of the relegation zone.
