Palisades Park is not safe. Witnessed a man get attacked from behind by what appeared to be a vagrant high on drugs. The vagrant kicked him in the head repeatedly until police arrived and arrested the vagrant. I read that the victim had his jaw broken in two places and suffered a concussion.

Palisades Park is absolutely beautiful if you can avoid the trash and the average of 10 homeless people per block! The Santa Monica City Government is doing a bang-up job!!

Sad too say the place is a magnet for the homeless. We stayed in a hotel across the road and did not venture out after dark as it didn’t appear safe! There were homeless people sleeping on the benches and grass day and night. Loads of noise shouting and playing loud music! Not an enjoyable place to walk.

Nice place to walk along during the day. Quite a few homeless hanging around to use the public restrooms. Nice place to view the sunset but even better down on the beach.

Tons of Shops, rides and stores. Concerts during the summer. Eric Burdon and the Animals were playing that day we went. Rides are about $8 per person. Beautiful views. Took the Ferris wheel. Worth the stop. Always some performer entertaining.

The park is lovely. Beautiful flora and fauna everywhere you look, not to mention views of the ocean. The park goes on for miles so it’s great for walking, biking, rollerblades or skates. Ok now the downside - homelessness is a big problem. I don’t live in California and am not used to seeing this everywhere. They have become invisible to the locals but I found it disturbing and upsetting. As you’re walking and enjoying the park you’ll be confronted with many homeless people and the smell of urine every so often. That’s just the way it is.

We went when it was pretty dead, cold but not freezing and clear skies. I enjoyed the views and found it to be very well-kept! There's lots of things around to see or do as well.

Buy an ice-cream and sit under the palm trees, looking out across the beautiful Pacific Ocean. You will be pinching yourself to make sure you are not dreaming!

A beautiful park that overlooks the ocean and pier.
It's narrow, but long and is a picture taking must.
Gorgeous flowers, trees and more.
A great walk, but there tends to be homeless people around.
I give this park 4 stars and not 5 because of the homeless who take up so many benches and don't care.

Visited on US trip with SOTC group. This park is located along the Ocean avanue in Santa Monica city spreading in a 26.4-acre area in Santa Monica, California. The park offers views of the Pacific Ocean and the coastal mountains. The park extends over 1.5 miles (2.4 km) from the Santa Monica Pier at the south to Adelaide Drive at the north. This long linear park is lined with plants and trees. There are benches, picnic areas and restrooms. A nice place for family picnic.
