Owen Olamidayo Goodman (born 27 November 2003) is an English footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Colchester United on loan from Crystal Palace.[1]

Early life[edit]

Goodman was born in Harold Wood. He moved to Canada with his parents in 2009.[citation needed]

Owen started playing rep soccer for South Simcoe United before playing for County FC Academy both clubs based in Alliston, Ontario.[2] He started playing with the Crystal Palace academy from under-13 level.[3]

Club career[edit]

Goodman signed a professional contract with Crystal Palace in July 2021 as a seventeen year-old.[4]

2022–23[edit]

Goodman had a place on the first-team bench for Crystal Palace in the Premier League against Wolverhampton Wanderers in October 2022.[5] He signed a contract extension with Crystal Palace in November 2022.[6] He made the Palace first-team bench in Premier League away trips to Brighton & Hove Albion, Arsenal and Southampton.[7]

2023–24[edit]

In July 2023, Goodman joined League Two club Colchester United on a season-long loan.[8]

International career[edit]

Eligible to play for England, Canada and Nigeria,[9] Goodman was called up to the England U-18 side in 2021.[10] In April 2022, Goodman accepted a call-up to the Canada under-20 team for two friendlies against Costa Rica.[11] Goodman was subsequently called-up to a Nigeria U-20 training camp in January 2023 but ultimately declined.[12] He played for the England U-20 against USA U-20 on 25 March 2023.[13] In October 2023, he was called up to the England U-20 side for matches against Portugal U-20 and Romania U-20.[14]

Goodman has an English father and a Nigerian mother.[15][16]
