How to recall carrier furnace last fault codes

Field Question

I've been doing this trade for 10 years and still haven't figured out how to recall carry furnace fault codes sorry I'm a train dealer.

Looking at the instructions it'll tell me "If status code recall is needed, briefly remove then reconnect one main limit wire to display last stored status code. After one status code recall is completed component test will occur"

I simply don't understand what it's asking me to do is it asking me to remove one of the terminals from the high limit to be able to recall an error code?

Have a customer with a 10-year carrier furnace of which we did maintenance on and tells me randomly it doesn't work. It wont heat up the home I think the gas valve is bad / getting stuck I want to confirm this with a failed to sense flame code obviously doesn't happen when I'm there testing it fine sensor is clean getting good DC voltage going back to the board. Delta t temperature is 40° in heat which doesn't over exceed the limit nor did it trip the high limit after running it for 20 minutes straight.
