At His Age: Nick Lowe turns 75

A bit of a late bloomer who is the master of the hook. I find the Nick Lowe of the late-70s and early-80s had the gruff and life experience that still relates to a late-20-to-early-30-year-old of today.

Nick Lowe's music has completely changed since his early days and his recent records and live act are tremendous. He tours frequently with Los Stratjackets which is a pretty great show but Nick playing completely solo is quite special. He's one of those artists, like Robyn Hitchcock, who continue to produce new compelling music well into their senior years.

I saw him play solo a few months ago and he sounded incredible.

Well said. At his age he really does turn 75.

Nick Lowe is a gem — vastly underrated. Rockpile’s album is great as is the record by the band Little Village. And of course all of his solo stuff. He has a wonderful wit — I love him.

Rockpile’s album is great

Indeed, and if you aren't aware, some of the Nick Lowe and Dave Edmunds solo records are really Rockpile records in all but name.

The Well Of Sound has a great episode where they go over his career.
