Ousmane Dieng

Draft Notes

Ousmane Dieng has a bright NBA future. The French point-forward is a great ball handler, play-maker scorer and passer. His NBA role projects as a creative big wing with some primary ball handling responsibility.

Dieng is the type of prospect that will move up boards as the draft approaches. His poor shooting numbers in the NBL (and his up and down play this past season) caused him to slide down boards but teams will want to bet on a long, 6-9 ball handler who is just scratching the surface of how good he can be.

Dieng has the makings of a sweet pull-up game and a knack for scoring from mid range, where he does a really good job of driving off of screens and finding space to get his shot.

Has really incredible movement skills for a player his size and is very fast with the ball in his hands. Can turn the corner and get to the rim with a really impressive burst. Has ALL the physical tools.

His outside shot looks good but he’s yet to hit at a high enough clip to be considered a good 3pt shooter. He shot less than 30% from 3 this past year but there is a lot of promise with his area of his game and I’d expect him to improve his accuracy over the coming years.

Ousmane is a long, lean athlete with great quickness, lateral speed and overall agility. He definitely looks the part of a NBA player and flashes big upside.

Uses these tools well on the defensive end and shows the potential to lock up ball handlers and guard in space. Can guard up and down the line up.

His biggest swing skill is his shooting. He hit just 67% of his FTs with the Breakers and his shooting touch is still in question.

When you watch him the first word that comes to mind is smooth.
