A group of five teenagers are friends living in Shelbyville, Tennessee, the hometown of actress Sondra Locke. It's 1978, and the movie "Every Which Way But Loose" is soon to premier at a theater downtown. There are rumors that Locke is going to attend the opening, and everyone's excited. They talk about how Locke was the one in her generation to get out of Shelbyville and make it big, and they think that maybe, just maybe, if they can somehow rub elbows with her then one of them can hit the big time too. If only Locke will attend the high school talent show!
