An exhibition of the Mitte Mueum in the Library at the Luisenbad
The painter Otto Nagel (1894-1967) is currently experiencing a new public interest. While in the past it was his artworks that were discussed, today it is Otto Nagel as a historical figure. A look at his contacts to the artistic avant-garde of the 1920s, his persecution by the National Socialists, and his prominent position in the GDR allows for new questions about the social role of artists in the respective political systems of the 20th century.
The Mitte Museum takes new publications on Otto Nagel as an opportunity to present books by and about him from over a hundred years in an exhibition in the Bibliothek am Luisenbad. In the synopsis, social structures and historical processes in which Nagel was involved become visible. At the same time, the exhibition explores the question of what historical knowledge value the titles, which were once published in very large numbers, hold for today's readers.
An exhibition of the Mitte Museum in cooperation with the Bibliothek am Luisenbad.
