Reviews
- my copy is very noisy. lots of continuous noise. I'll have to give a proper clean and see if it improves as most people seem to be saying it's a great pressing.
- Edited 8 months agoI just did a shoot off between this, the 2017 mono box set edition and a 2001 Sundazed mono. The hard panned vocals and guitar on the right and horns on the left was hard to get by, especially when I listened to the box set mono just after it which was outstanding. I am not sure even if I’d get the AS 2x45s stereo it is likely not going to be that much different from reading those reviews. Georgi.ITV’s review speaks closely to my experience with this but my vinyl is fine. It is what it is. The mono is just a better mix.
- It's kind of weirdly mixed as pointed out by other users. At times Otis' voice is very quiet. Blue vinyl, but came slightly warped from the package (plays fine). Got mine for a bloated price, so look out for that too.
- Edited 2 years agoMake sure you pick up the album "Dock of the Bay", with hands down the best Otis Redding single ever. That said, this is THE BEST collection of songs, including some wonderful covers such as change going to come, satisfaction, my girl, etc. The horn arrangements are top-notch here.
It's an old recording, so I don't expect much, But the sound is clean and well balanced.
It's a strange stereo field, Otis and guitar far right and horns far left. Oh well.
This pressing is great. Blue vinyl. 180g. - all these chris bellman vinyl lps whether colored or not are the same,,,This is one of my favorite otis records,, This current reissue is cut from a all analog source by chris bellman,, This reissue suffers from the same audiophile sound that some people love and some hate,,, Ya know sucked out midrange bloated bass and no sparkle on top, This will be fine for most, but for me i will seek a better copy... The vinyl is dead quiet with black backgrounds,, im just not a fan of the mastering choices,,,,
- Awesome press and mastering. Happens to be in stereo, so if that's a turnoff, then don't get it. But damn it's a dope fuckin' stereo mix.
