Original Funk Soul Sister: the Best of Ann Pebbles - Ann Peebles excellent album, it is true to its title. funk/soul, more soul then funk but it gives you a strong collection. you need to look to past sometimes to understand the future. this singer was not a diva but not because she was not a strong singer, her vocals are strong. When you listen to her you will be reminded of the motown soul of the 70's. If you enjoy the past you will love this album, check it out.
I love Ann Peebles voice it is so distinctive and this collection covers a large chunk of her career . It is at a very competetive price and all her gems and more are there from " I'm Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down " to I Can't Stand The Rain " . Wonderful collection from a Wonderful lady.
A great listen. Original Soul Sister descibes this abum well. Some tracks I knew, some I didn't, some I knew by other artists and didn't know this was the original. Magic.
there are many fine female soul singers, but this lady is at the very top of the list. southern soul at its very best. for a good compilation of southern soul try 'take me to the river'.
