A search is underway for a 61-year-old Vancouver woman who has been missing since Tuesday.

Cristina Ase is the nursing director at assisted-living facility Rose Linn Care Center, in Clackamas County.

Police are calling her disappearance suspicious.

On Tuesday morning, her co-workers held a search party in one of the areas she was last seen.

“We’re hopeful but somber at the same time,” said Brady Woldroff, executive director at Rose Linn Care Center. “We’re hoping we find some lead. Finding her is the first hope.”

Woldroff says he's worked with Ase at Rose Linn for five years, and it’s unusual for her to not show up to work.

“If she had a doctor's appointment or a car issue, she communicated that to those of us that needed to know,” he said.

Vancouver police say the last time someone heard from Ase was by phone call early Tuesday morning. They say that morning, they believe she left her apartment.

Co-workers found her car about a mile from her home Wednesday. Woldroff says her lunch bag was inside the car, as if she was on her way to work.

The last time he talked to Ase was Monday.

“No description about family issues, personal issues, nothing seemed out of the norm,” said Woldroff.

Police are asking Oregon and Washington residents for assistance in locating possible video footage of Cristina or her vehicle within a quarter mile radius of the following locations between March 25 at 4pm – March 27 at 5pm:

  • 501 SE 123rd Ave, Vancouver WA
  • Glenwood Park – 8800 block of SE Claybourne Street, Portland OR
  • Flavel Street & SE 92nd Ave, Portland OR

Police did not say why she might have gone to Portland.

"The only thing I can comment about that is that she was possibly in those areas on the morning of her disappearance," said Sergeant Julie Ballou.

Anyone with any information about this case is asked to contact Detective Nicholson atjason.nicholson@cityofvancouver.us or Sgt. Ballou at julie.ballou@cityofvancouver.us.
