Cromwell
Description
Cromwell is a visual novel based on the life of Oliver Cromwell, focusing on his stint as Lord Protector of the Commonwealth of England, Scotland and Ireland. The gameplay and art style borrow heavily from the Reigns series of games, with the player presented with cards portraying various characters and asked to choose between two options. At the top of the screen are three or four meters, representing the church, the people, the treasury and parliament (unless you choose to dissolve it). Each decision can move these meters up or down; if the meters are completely full or emptied out it results in a game over scenario. A small indicator in the bottom left corner of the screen shows whether the choice aligns with history or not. There are 11 possible endings, some prompted by the game overs while others are created by the player diverging heavily from the historical record with their choices.
