About Old Freak Street

Old Freak Street is quite a small street which is located at the famous Kathmandu Durbar Square. Previously it was named as Freak street which refers to the hippie trail culture during the 1960-70s. The place is known mostly for his historical significance but it looks just like any other neighbourhood where many families live, carry out business and go to school. Previously there were government run hashish shops in the neighbourhood which attracted a lot of people. It was a hippie place and one could find anything that one would need right from marijuana to hashish. These things were legal back then and the shops would be governmental. Although these things are banned now and not available, the place holds an unique historical importance.
