Then & Now: Do you know where this is?

This week's location is in a busy area, surrounded by tall office buildings and narrow streets. 

It was a bustling place back when this building stood here, too; the former school was once home to thousands of students, as well as adults looking to take citizenship classes, retraining programs, or evening courses.

The original structure that stood here dated to 1871; other buildings were added at the site in 1913 and 1929. The school continued to change into the mid-20th century as well, losing its distinctive bell tower in 1954.

The school was finally closed in 1966, and torn down shortly afterwards to make way for new construction.
