My overall experience at Norwalk High School has been a mix of positives and areas for improvement. The best parts include the supportive community, dedicated teachers, and diverse range of extracurricular activities. However, there are areas that need attention, such as the lunchroom, teaching methods, facility upgrades like bathrooms, and providing new equipment such as chairs, computers, chargers, and cameras for the school. Additionally, ensuring access to clean drinking water and improving the quality of lunch options would greatly enhance the overall experience for students.
Norwalk High School provided me with many opportunities to pursue my dream career, nursing. The staff that I have come into contact with have always been very supportive, and they push you to be your best and use critical thinking skills. As long as you show you are a committed student and network within the school, you have a plethora of activities, part-time jobs, and internships that you will be informed about. I also love how diverse our school is. As a senior, in my entire K-12 student career, I've only had two black teachers. They were both strong females and they inspired me to push past social barriers that I've faced in school. Norwalk High does have its problems, like every school, but with the support of staff and more representation, I do believe that those problems can be solved.
I think the best part of high school was the amount of activities that were available for me to get involved in. After COVID hit my freshman year, I decided that as I went on with my high school career, I would do much more and take a role in my community. I didn't really have a bad experience with school but one thing that could be better is our school spirit.
