Lily Gladstone and Riley Keough are joining forces for Hulu true crime series “Under the Bridge.”

Based on Rebecca Godfrey’s 2005 book, “Under the Bridge” revisits the 1997 true story of 14-year old outcast Reena Virk (Vritika Gupta) who went to join friends at a party and never returned home. Reena was found dead in Craigflower Bridge in Saanich, British Columbia after being beaten. The show examines the hidden world of the teenagers accused of Reena’s murder as the truth comes to light as to who the unlikely killer really was. The series is part of Hulu’s stacked Spring 2024 slate.

Gladstone stars as fictional police officer Cam Bentland investigating the case. Keough plays author Godfrey as she struggles to balance her own psyche as she reports on Reena’s killing. “Euphoria” star Javon “Wanna” Walton, Chloe Guidry, Izzy G., Aiyana Goodfellow, and Ezra Faroque Khan co-star with “The Good Wife” alum Archie Panjabi.

Quinn Shephard (“Not Okay”) adapted Godfrey’s book and executive produces along with Samir Mehta (“Tell Me Lies”) and actress Keough through her Felix Culpa banner with Gina Gammell. Shephard spent three years working with late author Godfrey, who is also credited as an executive producer on the series; Godfrey hand-picked Keough to play her in the show and selected Gladstone to join the cast after hearing about her performance in Oscar-nominated “Killers of the Flower Moon” from her director of photography friend.

Keough can next be seen in “Sasquatch Sunset” and Oscar-nominated “Barbie” co-writer Noah Baumbach’s upcoming coming-of-age adult comedy that also serves as a reunion with “The Meyerowitz Stories” actor Adam Sandler.

Oscar-nominated actress Gladstone will lead another adaptation, Charlie Kaufman’s “Memory Police,” and also star in the sequel to “Unknown Country” titled “Jazz.” Gladstone additionally produces documentary “Bring Them Home.”

“Our shorthand in the room was that the show is ‘Eighth Grade’ meets ‘The Sopranos,'” Mehta told Elle magazine. “And in some ways, the experience of being in middle school and how exclusive it can feel and how cruel being ostracized [is] can feel like you’re dealing with a gang.”

“Under the Bridge” is additionally executive produced by Liz Tigelaar (“Little Fires Everywhere”) and Stacey Silverman of Best Day Ever, plus Tara Duncan. Geeta Patel directs the pilot and is an executive producer on that episode. The series is produced by ABC Signature.

“Under the Bridge” premieres April 17 on Hulu. Check out the trailer below.
