No Thought, No Breath, No Eyes, No Heart is the remixed accompaniment to The Golden Palominos’ outstanding album Pure. While Bill Laswell’s mix of “Heaven” adds some odd piano chords and generally just stretches things out, Bandulu’s Tempting Fate mix of “No Skin” turns the track into a banger (with the looped vocals adding a bit of eeriness. Their Cold Spells and Funky Hornsey mixes go for dub textures less aimed at the dancefloor. Terre Thaemlitz merges “Gun” and “Little Suicides,” reforming a guitar riff and vocal snippets into drifting ambience. And his Aural Circumcision mix of “No Skin” is all whirls and drones. This EP is an outstanding example of what remixes (and remixers) can achieve.
