He looks like Jimmy’s brother.

Looks like what we've been needing in midfield. Easily best options (on paper at least) we've seen in awhile.
Excellent.

You expecting this lad to start against Real next week then?Canberra_Bhoy wrote: ↑Sep 01, 2022Delighted with this, we might not have much use for a defensively minded midfielder in our league but we 100 % need one for Europe.
year long holiday in the green and pleasant lands of celtic.Bob Corncob wrote: ↑Sep 02, 2022I'm a bit perplexed by the wording of that announcement "season long deal" is pretty vague.
If it was a loan it surely would have said that. If it's a permanent transfer then it usually is worded as a "one year deal."
The lad is what, 26? A one year deal is usually given to guys over 30. Unless we don't actually rate him? It's all a bit vague and I'd like a bit of clarity on it.
Still happy the lad has come in, though. Hope he melts a few huns this season.
Yep, definitely a loan. We're obviously keen to take advantage of the situation in Russian football, but I'd also be surprised if he went back there next summer. We know Ange doesn't mind a loan deal, but I don't think he'd be interested if there wasn't an agreement in place to maybe make it permanent, if it suits both parties. Maybe Oliver's farewell message let the cat out of the bag that he wasn't intending on going back. We wait and see, I guess. Hopefully he kicks lumps out of folk and becomes a hero. Welcome, Ollie!

Not at all he's only in through the door. I have no idea what condition the lad is in or even the fact he won't have trained with his teammates yet.
At some point he'll be available for selection and you'd imagine he'd be most suited to our European games. From what I've read he's an out an out defensive midfielder and we don't have much use for them domestically.
Awesome rebuild.
It worked well with Jota, CCV & Maeda coming initially for only 1 year, I'm sure it'll be the same again.
Everything Ange & TBF the club have said is actually true, that's the really exciting thing .

I’m guessing Celtic’s Twitter admin got his baws toed for ripping into Rubin Kazan. I hope it’s not his Tony the Tiger moment, because he’s been great.Bob Loblaw wrote: ↑Sep 02, 2022They deleted the please sir can I have some more tweet?

I think a player like him and Mooy allow us to move McGregor up one in midfield which is what Ange has done when Mooy has came on. Much as McGregor keeps us moving I've always thought that he was great at breaking the lines from midfield, which is the way he played under BR. It also means in Europe, if AP wants to be a bit more solid but keep a front 3, he could easily partner 2 of McGregor, Abildgaard or Mooy to protect and play another more advanced in midfield, possibly Haksabanovic, behind the front 3.Canberra_Bhoy wrote: ↑Sep 01, 2022Delighted with this, we might not have much use for a defensively minded midfielder in our league but we 100 % need one for Europe.
I think if McCarthy had been up to speed last season or Ideguchi had made an impact when he arrived in January then they would have been the pivot(s) and McGregor played more advanced, as we know that didn't work out for either.

Pleased with this signing.
The fly in the ointment for me was always going to be we'd miss Rogic and Bitton.
A like-for-like replacement for Tom was never on the cards, but Abildgaard looks like he fills a similar space to Nir.
Good range of passing, good at tidying up the loose ends in midfield - even a similar build to Nir, just slightly smaller and a bit more dynamic.
And of course - wearing his Celtic kit as a 9-yr-old - - what's not to like?

McGregor is more suited to that so players who can release him from being the guy in front of the centre backs is a good thing.JohnRobertson wrote: ↑Sep 02, 2022I think a player like him and Mooy allow us to move McGregor up one in midfield which is what Ange has done when Mooy has came on. We're already getting the boyhood Celtic fan stuff. Though there apparently is something in it - his grandad apparently lives in Scotland and is a Tim. There's even a pic of the young Oliver wearing the hoops.

Looks like a man of the Mjallby mould.
Takes no shampoo and likes a tackle, exactly what we need.
