Roma are expected to consider Nicola Zalewski’s fit to their long-term plans.

The Polish fullback has been slowly improving his form which seemed to have hit a wall over the past year and a half – the ex-Primavera man had been ineffective for the majority of Jose Mourinho’s tenure and with Daniele De Rossi stepping in, his position was changed and his minutes drastically dropped.

With his contract set to run out in 2025, Il Tempo reports that this upcoming summer window will be crucial to determine Zalewski’s future.

The Italian newspaper suggests that Zalewski is determined to stay in the capital, with the club he grew up with.

Roma, on the other hand, want to evaluate his performances as Daniele De Rossi is expected to keep deploying him further up the pitch, more prominently as Stephan El Shaarawy’s replacement.

So far Zalewski has failed to draw any interest – Borussia Dortmund are said to have made only a timid inquiry last year, but no real offers arrived at Roma’s doorstep.

For the time being Roma have not made any attempts to discuss Zalewski’s contractual situation – the player knows that the Giallorossi are waiting for him to impress and reaffirm his place at the club.
