A Rumored Cardi B & Nicki Minaj Collab Has Fans Going Crazy

Photos: Getty Images

The internet is abuzz with rumors of a potential new collaboration between Cardi B and, wait for it….Nicki Minaj.

Hot New Hip Hope broke the news first, claiming that the unconfirmed collaboration between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj would be called “Lavish”.

Cardi B herself was the first one to stoke rumors of a potential collaboration between her and Nicki. Last Thursday, she tweeted out a cryptic message, saying: “Since ya mad ..imma give ya something mad to be about…This next single and coll- ….Gonna have ya sick ….since ya here.”

But the news between a Nicki and Cardi collab went mainstream after Hot New Hip Hop claimed that a snippet of “Lavish” was leaked on the internet and quickly scrubbed from existence.

According to the music outlet, a page for “Lavish” was also created on the music archiving website Genius.

But even that page was quickly taken down. So, either someone is playing an elaborate prank, or there is indeed a cover-up afoot.

As background, Cardi B and Nicki Minaj have had a veritable blood feud for years now. Although they were both publicly supportive of each other at the beginning of Cardi’s career, rumors and tensions escalated between them. The beef was largely based off of the underlying media narrative that there could only be one superstar female rapper in the game.

Their feud then famously culminated in a very public altercation at New York Fashion Week in 2018.

It was then that Cardi allegedly threw a shoe at Nicki. Since then, the two have never had anything positive to say about one another.

It’s possible that the two mega-stars have decided to bury the hatchet and move on with their lives. If one thing’s for sure, a Nicki Minaj and Cardi B collab would definitely be a lucrative project. And there’s nothing Cardi loves more than checks!

Shortly after these rumors went public, both of the powerhouse rappers started trending on Twitter.

Both the Bardi Gang and the Barbz are going crazy about what this news could possibly mean.

Fans were divided on whether to be excited about the news…

There are no words to accurately describe how groundbreaking this collab would be.

Or betrayed.

Some stans just don’t want to forgive and forget.

Some were just holding onto hope that the rumors were true.

It would be nice to see these two powerful women come together to celebrate their similarities rather than be divided by drama.

Naturally, a lot of fans were skeptical.

After all, the collaboration still isn’t confirmed and all of these reports are just based off speculation, rumors, and that one cryptic tweet.

We guess we’ll just have to stay tuned to see what happens! Whatever the outcome, we’re always excited to hear new music from Cardi B.

Mariachi is officially getting the search engine clout it deserves!

Google Doodle’s latest feature celebrates the musical genre of mariachi. As an ode to the anniversary of the week that UNESCO inscribed mariachi on its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The genre of Regional Mexican music goes back to the 18th century.

Google’s latest Doodle features an animated video of mariachi serenading.

Singing “Cielito Lindo,” which is a song that encaptures Mexican pride, the doodle features a band of mariachi members.

Together they sing the following lyrics”De la Sierra Morena/cielito lindo, vienen bajando/Un par de ojitos negros/cielito lindo, de contrabando/ Ay, ay, ay, ay/Canta y no llores/Porque cantando se alegran/cielito lindo, los corazones.”

The lyrics translate to “From the Sierra Morena/Lovely sweet one, is prancing down/A pair of little black eyes/Lovely sweet one, is sneaking by/ Ay, ay, ay, ay/Sing, don’t cry/Because singing makes rejoice/Lovely sweet one, our hearts.”

For the doodle, the mariachi band wears traditional trajes de charro (charro suits) while strumming the traditional instruments of the genre.

Plucking away at the guitarrón, vihuela, and violin, other members use a trumpet and harp. According to Newsweek, “The tradition of mariachi originated in west-central Mexico around the turn of the 19th century, though its exact origins are murky. The musical genre began as entirely instrumental, made up of the sounds of stringed instruments, before vocals and the trumpet were eventually added.”

No doubt Google’s latest Doodle has won over the hearts of various searchers.

“What a beautiful tribute… thank you!” one user wrote.

“The Google doodle for today is a tribute to mariachis & it’s a little video that plays cielito lindo I am not okay, cielito lindo is my favorite mariachi song, it’s too cute,” another commented while another user wrote “I was so shocked when I clicked on this last night. What a wonderful surprise.”

Sweetly, the doodle really seemed to hit home for so many. “The Google Doodle today nearly made me cry,” one very happy user noted. “It was so unexpected and made me miss home for the first time since I moved.”

Cardi B Claps Back at Haters Who Say She Shouldn’t Have Won Billboard’s ‘Woman of the Year’ Title

Cardi B knows her worth and doesn’t have time for the haters. On Wednesday, Billboard announced that they crowned Cardi B “Woman of the Year”–an honor they bestow annually on a female artist who dominates the pop culture scene. As reference, last year, the award was given to Billie Eilish.

But with the chart-topping, record-smashing success of “WAP,” Billboard had pretty much no other choice but to give the title to none other than our Dominican-Trinidadian Queen, Cardi B, this year.

But not everyone was so happy about. A few bitter critics took to the internet to complain about the usual stuff: Cardi’s contributions to music this year, and her being a polarizing figure in general.

“Cardi B sets women back hundreds years,” wrote one particularly bitter Twitter user. “She objectifies women’s bodies as ‘machines’ made solely for sex. The English-level used is shameful. I wouldn’t want my kids to listen to any of that crap.”

So on Wednesday, Cardi took her Instagram to serve her haters a hefty serving of humble pie.

“Morning y’all, it’s your girl Cardi B,” she greeted her audience, bare-faced, her hair wrapped in a scarf, dressed in a floral robe. “And yes, I am Woman of the Year.” And it just got more hilarious from there.

“And for you crybabies like, ‘But she only got one song!’ Yeah, I got that song, b—h. You know, the one that sold the most? The one that streamed the most? The one that had Republicans crying on Fox News about it. The one that have a song that’s about to be six times platinum in three months. The one that had your grandma popping her p—y on TikTok. Yeah b—h, that one.”

As Cardi continued to spit facts, she then took the opportunity to highlight her political activism this year–a brand of activism that kept her younger fans both entertained and, more importantly, engaged.

“For over a year, I’ve been influencing and using my platform for y’all to vote, not just for when Joe Biden was going against Trump,” she added. “I’ve been informing y’all about y’all’s senators, midterm elections, using my money to meet up with these candidates like Bernie. Flying out, tired after shows. Yeah, that’s me, b—h.”

Never one to take un-founded criticism lying down, she continued her tirade against ill-informed haters. “Even when y’all’s crying like, ‘But she don’t represent us!’ Yes I do, b—h. I represent America,” she paused for emphasis here.

“I wanted a change, and that’s exactly what the f–k I did,” she said. She then concluded the video: “And eat it up. I’m just that b—h. Eat it up with a spoon so y’all can get a mouthful.”

Cardi B never fails to keep us fully entertained. The annual Billboard’s Women in Music event will be held on December 10th. As a side note, Jennifer Lopez will also be receiving Billboard’s Icon Award.
