With each season The Masked Singer has made guessing the identities of their anonymous singing celebrities more difficult. However, it seems they inadvertently gave away the identity of one of this season's fan favorites, Crocodile.

The producers of The Masked Singer go to extremes to prevent fans from figuring out the identities of the contestants. In the past, they have had to work around not only the amount of Google-able information, but also determined fans who go to crazy lengths to identify the person under the mask. They've even had people reverse-engineering the altered voices. With each season, they've tried new things and made the clues harder to unravel. But no matter how hard they try, occasionally things slip through the cracks. White Tiger from last season, who turned out to be NFL great Rob Gronkowski, made the mistake of singing a song fans could find a YouTube video of him singing in the past. Though we don't have confirmation yet, it's likely Sun from this season made the same error, which makes comparing the audio very easy for determined fans.

This season, however, the revealing mistake came in the clue packages, which is a bit more shocking. The clues to the identity of Crocodile have pointed to Backstreet Boys band member Nick Carter, as Screen Rant has previously suggested. But this week's clue package involved one clue that was way too specific and way too easy to verify. During the package, Crocodile told a very detailed story of how his father wasn't very supportive and he gave his first $100 check earned as a child performer to him, hoping to earn his approval. The story was touching, and very familiar to hardcore Nick Carter fans. As Backstreet Boys fan Stacey Richards pointed out on The Masked Singer Facebook page, Carter told this exact story in his autobiography Facing the Music. Check out the image taken from the book here:

As you can see, his story way too specific to be able to be attributed to anyone else. The rest of the clues in the package also lined up as well as the previous one. There was a number five on the home. Nick is famously one of five Carter siblings. There was a pirate flag flying and an anchor on the wall, and it just so happens that Nick just last year got a massive pirate ship tattoo dedicated to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There was also an American flag and Nick had an album called All American. There was a disco ball that was clearly referencing his stint on Dancing With the Stars. You can see these clues and the story told in his book in this clue package:

The Crocodile Family Reunion 2014 could refer to Nick's 2014 wedding or to his Backstreet Boys family, who was on a reunion tour in 2014. Crocodile's childhood clue, as we pointed out in our recap, was a pinata with dolphins inside. Nick has made saving the dolphins a priority personally and was even appointed U.N. ambassador of the Year of the Dolphin. These clues added to the previous ones we covered in our initial prediction article for Crocodile are more than enough to convince most people that Nick Carter is Crocodile, even without the story from his autobiography.
