Nick Carter’s wife, Lauren, gives birth, but there are ‘complications’

Nick Carter is now a dad of three.

The Backstreet Boy’s wife, Lauren Kitt Carter, gave birth to their third child Wednesday, but he said there were “minor complications.”

“We are proud to announce that our baby has officially arrived,” Nick tweeted Thursday morning. “But as a parent knows all to very well, sometimes things don’t turn out the way you plan it. We have been experiencing some minor complications but things are looking a little better after the first night.”

He added, “I wanted to thank everyone for all the prayers and good thoughts during this time. We will keep you updated.”

Nick’s reps declined to comment.

Their newborn joins brother Odin Reign, 5, and sister Saoirse Reign, 1.

Nick, 41, and Lauren, 37, announced that they were expecting their third child in January after suffering “multiple miscarriages” throughout the years.

The couple explained that they never planned to be able to conceive again naturally, and Lauren did not even realize she was pregnant until she was five and a half months along.

“I thought I had a tumor because there was just no way that I could be pregnant, from just my medical history and the things that I did to ensure that I just had my two children,” Lauren told People while announcing her pregnancy. “Even Nick, like a couple of weeks prior to that, was talking about possibly getting a surrogate, possibly having a third child. It was just something we were talking about.”

The “I Want It That Way” singer shared in a February Instagram post that they were grateful their third little one was “strong” and growing.

“We’re so close,” he wrote. “Trying to keep a stress free and happy home is so important, especially with the high risk [pregnancy]. I never knew that being a father and provider to these little lives would [be] the most important and greatest job of my life.”

The proud parents tied the knot in April 2014.
