The 2022 season marks Nicholas’s third consecutive year competing at motorsport’s highest level and proudly flying the flag for Canada across the world.
Being given his F1 chance by Williams Racing in 2020 was the culmination of years of hard work and career dedication. But it was a sacrifice worth making.
Today, Nicholas is an established F1 driver, point scorer, Canadian sporting hero and an athlete that his Williams Racing team holds aloft as a major contributor to the squad’s impressive on-track turn around.
Even more impressive is the fact Nicholas only started his motorsport journey at the comparatively late age of 13, racing karts in his homeland.
Having tasted success in Canada and realising his talent for wheel-to-wheel racing, Nicholas’s career moved into top gear – and across the Atlantic – as he graduated through the Formula Three, Formula Renault 3.5 and FIA Formula 2 championships in Europe and beyond.
A driver with a natural flair and an uncanny ability to adapt quickly, Nicholas shone in test and development roles with the Renault and Force India F1 teams before he arrived at Williams in 2019 as reserve driver.
A programme of testing, simulator work and participation in six FP1 sessions was completed alongside Nicholas’s final F2 campaign with the DAMS squad.
Claiming four wins and eight podiums guaranteed Nicholas the F2 Vice Champion title – and marked him out as a driver worthy of a full-time berth in F1.
With Williams Racing’s expertise and experience behind him in 2022, Nicholas is braced for the most eagerly anticipated F1 season in decades.
New technical regulations have given life to a new era in F1 and Nicholas is ready for the challenge aboard his stunning FW44 chassis.

For me, competing in Formula 1 is the ultimate sporting challenge. Success is measured in thousandths of a second and you have to be at your best every single lap. It’s a fantastic feeling when you hook the car up and reward the team and fans with a strong result.
