Hurricane Delta has strengthened into a major hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico. The forecast track continues to show a slow turn more towards the north-northwest and eventual north overnight tonight. It is forecast to make landfall along the southwestern Louisiana coast on Friday. It could bring life-threatening storm surge, damaging winds, a few tornadoes and heavy rainfall leading to flash flooding to portions of the area.
With possible impacts related to Hurricane Delta expected later this week, NOW is the time to ensure you have a plan. Use this checklist to go over all important items and tasks that need to be done prior to a storm's arrival.
Today: Numerous to scattered showers possible this evening. Lows tonight will be in the 70s.
Friday: Tropical Storm Conditions will be possible across most of our area, especially west of I-55. Tropical Storm Force winds, heavy rainfall, a few tornadoes, and storm surge are all potential threats from this system.
