What travelers are saying
- powelllindabNew Canaan, CT42 contributionsAmazing collection of art! Homer, Van Gogh, Degas, Monet, Corot, Remington, Rodin, Church. Too many to name. Also American art before 1900. We barely scratched the surface in two hours so will return soon to see the rest. Nice lunch at Harvest Wine Bar across the street and some book shopping at Atticus Books next door. Easy parking.Written January 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- lissette A17 contributionsVery nice town to walk around. The buildings for photos are excellent it feels like you are in Europe. The Museum of Art was free to walk through. It was a nice stroll through Yale university campus.Written March 19, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - surabhi r7 contributionsThe library is one of a kind and a must visit while in New Haven. Striking display of five floors encased in glass and lots of exhibits as well which perhaps are themed and changed periodicallyWritten November 13, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - dustythoughtsManchester, CT2,150 contributionsI used to love coming to this extensive, detailed, and fascinating museum. They have large collections and exhibits on human evolution, dinosaurs, minerals, ancient Egypt, and various animals, all of which are well-curated and clearly well cared-for. They also have interesting temporary exhibits (back when the Rudd Center was here, they had an exhibit on food ingredients). This museum is currently closed for renovations and is expected to reopen in early 2024, although in the meantime, they have an @Home site where you can learn about their exhibits and do some hands-on activities from the comfort of your home. I look forward to seeing their newly renovated space!Written August 17, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - HughSouth Ozone Park, NY1,323 contributionsI have long heard to this museum and finally resolved to visit and glad I did. This is a comprehensive collection of British art , beautifully displayed. - GoAlong2Seattle, WA909 contributionsWe went to the park expecting to drive to the viewpoint however we found that the road is closed to cars during the winter. So we walked the road about 20 minutes to the top up gentle curves. The views of the city and the water are very good. At the top is a memorial to soldiers and sailors from the area who died in various wars. It was a chilly day, but a nice walk.Written February 9, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- John S., Branford CTBranford, CT7 contributionsNationally famous people in Grove Street Cemetery, such as Charles Goodyear, Noah Webster and others. If included with other sight-seeing in New Haven, including "location shots" for an Indiana Jones movie, and a stop for New Haven's famous pizzas, it makes for good day.Written May 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tim WYoungstown, OH63 contributionsAny Catholic - in fact any person of faith - would be inspired by the illumination of Blessed Michael McGivney life and ministry contained within this well presented array of exhibits. As a Knight of Columbus, I appreciated gaining a fuller understanding of the organization's history, mission and role in the Catholic Church.Written November 1, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AS6016Albany, NY127 contributionsGreat little theatre, every seat has a good vantage point. If you go before the performance, there's a lounge where you can have a light. The theatre is extremely comfortable and/or beverages include wine. Worked out great for us today as it was a cold rainy day. Coffee/ tea are complimentary.
Today we saw "Wish You Were Here", the actresses all had strong performances,Written October 14, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We were in town for an event at Yale Uni and decided to come here. Upon pulling into the park entrance there are signs asking for $25 cash only payment for parking and entrance. CT residents pay less...
The park has some sandy beach areas but most is rocky with shallow water. Water was fairly cold for a 95 degree day in CT summer. I was not prepared for swimming but did go into to check out the water temp.
There is a canteen to buy snacks, lunch, and drinks at a higher than expected price. Best if you bring your own picnic and food so you can enjoy all day with your own chairs/canopy.
Lighthouse has great potential for photographers and wedding are happening here’s every weekend. I recommend bringing lots of water and food and staying at least for few hours!Written July 25, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
