In a surprise move, Yes CEO Ilan Sigal has decided to renew the hit Israeli drama Fauda for a fifth season.

According to Variety, Fauda was originally intended to end after its fourth season, but after talks held between Sigal and Netflix, which has streamed Fauda internationally, an arrangement was agreed upon to continue the drama series that addresses the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Sigal and the show's co-creator, Avi Issacharoff broke the news during an annual event held by the Yes company. The fourth season of Fauda was available to stream on Netflix earlier this year, but as yet there is no confirmed date for its return to the streaming platform.

Fauda premiered in 2015, and even though there have been decades of conflict between Israelis and Palestinians, the show is praised for the balance it holds between the two groups in an attempt to hear both sides of the story and humanize the two groups to each other. Issacharoff and lead actor Lior Raz co-created the show based on their personal experiences with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The story of Fauda is centered on an Israeli agent who is forced to return to the conflict when a Palestinian fighter appears on the scene again after having been presumed dead, thus creating an additional chaotic element to the already high-stakes conflict. Fauda remains a popular staple in the Netflix international offerings group.

Raz plays Doron Kabillio opposite Hisham Sulliman's Taufiq Hammed. Raz is also known for his roles in 2011's Policeman, 2019's 6 Underground, and 2021's Hit & Run. He will also be appearing in the upcoming Gladiator sequel which is currently filming and also stars Russell Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Djimon Hounsou. Sulliman is best known for his work on Homeland and The Girl from Oslo. Other actors involved in Fauda include Laetitia Eido, of Strike Back, Itzik Cohen from A Matter of Size, and Netta Garti, who was in both Turn Left at the End of the World and The Arbitrator.
