Nemanja Matić praises Jedinstvo's Miodrag Pivaš, calling him a talent with potential not seen since Vidić and Ivanović, highlighting his complete gameplay and professionalism.
A potential unparalleled since the days of Nemanja Vidić and Branislav Ivanović! These are the words Nemanja Matić, the celebrated Serbian star currently playing for Lyon and simultaneously the head of Jedinstvo from Ub, used to describe the fresh-faced Miodrag Pivaš.
Pivaš is an 18-year-old center-back and defensive midfielder for Jedinstvo, who has caught the eye this spring. Matić spoke highly of the young player on the club's website.
"A huge talent and serious potential. If he continues this way, he's on the path to the national team. In my opinion, we haven't seen a player with such predispositions since Nemanja Vidić and Bane Ivanović. A complete player and a top professional," said Matić.
The young footballer burst onto the scene this spring when Ivan Radovanović, a long-time Serie A international, took over as coach. Someone with so much time spent in Italy can recognize talent among defenders.
Marko Rajović, assistant coach at Jedinstvo, also spoke highly of Pivaš. "It's truly refreshing to see such a young player approach his duties so seriously and professionally. He's always eager and gives his all to meet the demands expected of him on the field. There's still a lot of room for improvement, and I have no doubt he'll reach his full potential."
Pivaš played 90 minutes in every match of the spring half-season. "Honestly, I hoped to play more this half-season, but I didn't expect to secure a spot in the starting eleven so quickly, especially at only 18 years old. I'm glad to be at a club that cares about young players and gives a chance to everyone who works hard and proves themselves every day," said Miodrag Pivaš, the new hope of Serbian football, hailing from Jedinstvo's fields in Ub.
