This new film, entitled Furiosa: a Mad Max saga and taking the form of both a spin-off and a prequel, will plunge us into the youth of this heroine, revealing how she was torn from the haven of peace where she grew up, the Green Earth, and how she was thrown into a chaotic world dominated by tyrannical figures such as Immortan Joe and the terrifying Dementus. After escaping the clutches of a lawless biker gang, Furiosa will have to face a series of even more terrible ordeals… We still know very little about the plot, but in the columns ofEntertainment WeeklyGeorge Miller revealed what he had in store for this character:
“This film is clearly an odyssey, that of a person who has been torn from his home, and who will spend the rest of his life trying to return there. A shock casting for Furiosa: A Mad Max saga
Succeeding Charlize Theron, Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Game) plays the young Furiosa, bringing an unprecedented intensity and depth to the character. At his side, Chris Hemsworth (Thor) slips into the skin of Dementus, offering a performance that goes against the grain of his usual roles, while Tom Burke (The Lazarus Project, The Wonder) will play a character about whom we still know nothing.

After having been postponed many times, the release date of Furiosa: A Mad Max saga is now set for May 22, 2024. In October 2020, when the project was formalized, it was initially set for 2023, but delays in the production process led to the film being postponed. Director George Miller will present his feature film at the Cannes Film Festival on May 14, two weeks before the official release date.
