I've heard most of Sheena Easton's albums, and this is probably the worst. But it still has some good moments. "My Cherie" is an attractive song, and should have been a hit. "Too Much in Love" is another strong number. "'til Death Do Us Part" is a winning song about heartbreak, and "All I Ask of You" a tender ballad. Most of the rest of the album doesn't really go anywhere, though. It's just sedate, formulaic, and/or dull. This was Sheena's first AC album, and a bit of a sellout. She does sing well, but there's just not a whole lot of adventure or energy here.

Sheena Easton rarely makes studio albums of high quality, but "Me Cherie" ranks among her best even knowing how it flopped commercially when it was released in 1995. On this album Easton leaves her dance persona choosing to play it in Adult Contemporary mold. There's nothing wrong with going a "safer route" and Sheena displays a range and depth that were absent before in her music. While songs like "Too Much In Love" and "Next To You" belong to the previous decade, others like "Til Death Do Us Part" or "All I Ask Of You" show that Easton was going for a new music attitude, with their Soul II Soul beats and splendid vocals. The album is dominated by ballads and songs like "Flower in The Rain" or "Please Don't Be Scared" demonstrate how skillful singer Easton is when given strong material to work on. "Dance Away The Blues" is a nice keyboard ballad and another winner. Title track should have been a hit back in the time yet the public decided against it. Mid 90's was not a perfect time for 80's diva, but "My Cherie" showed, that even without public interest Sheena Easton was a singer of great potential.
