Excellent tour and first rate guide with superb English. I have mobility issues and the guide asked if anyone had, so I put up my hand, he then had a very friendly female colleague escort me to a lift twice during the tour and back again so I did not have to try to get up the stairs. This really made my visit more enjoyable, The concert hall is beautiful, having seen it on TV for the New Year's Concert I was very excited at seeing it in person. Our guide gave us interesting information about the hall and the various famous composers who had had their works performed there. I can highly recommend this 45 minute tour which is also very reasonable.

Mozart in Vienna!!! And opera too! Our concierge booked the best seats and the performance was outstanding! This is a must do in Vienna: you will not be disappointed. Enjoyed the Mozart dark chocolates on the way out, a neat unexpected treat as you depart the best concert hall in the world (famous for its New Years concert that can be viewed on television around the world).

Went for a Brahms, Mozart, Vivaldi four seasons concert. Sat up front just off centre. The Brahms and Mozart were very good, then after the interval it was four seasons which was magnificent. It’s a great historic venue and something we can always say, been there done that. If you do go there are bars scattered throughout the building for pre concert drinks, just found them difficult to locate and, as is the way with touristic sites, expensive.

I attended the concert of the Schlosscappelle on 7 September, and I was blown away by their outstanding performance of the Haydn and Mozart symphonies! Vivaldi was also beautifully performed! I am told that the conductor, also founder of the Schlosscappelle, was "musician of the year" for the 40th anniversary of the Austrian classical broadcaster, for his interpretation of Haydn (as a conductor with his orchestra), as well as for his live recording of all Bach sonatas (as a solo violonist and in a single concert!). I must confess that I did not expect such a incredible performance!

Concert by the SchlossCapell orchestra, Fritz Kircher as soloist violine, December 9th at 20h00. Very nice experience, very surprising and a must do. First, the place is beautiful : one of the best concert hall in the world with perfect acoustics. Second, we were in the second row, so VERY close to the orchestra, we could see the powder coming off the violine archer when the musicians played. We could see all the discrete communications between the musicians, their looks, their complicity : I highly recommend the first rows, even though it force you to use the head and may end in an uncomfortable position... it pays off ! The orchestra was small : 20 musicians. 9 violines, 3 violas, 2 cellos, 1 contrabass, 2 oboes, 2 horns ans 1 harpsichord. We had in first part a Mozart symphony N°29 (K201) which was a perfect starter - perfectly executed - and the four seasons of Vivaldi in second part. The soloist Fritz Kircher was very good, no doubt. The orchestra was very precise altogether, with a beautiful execution. But I have been particularly impressed by the second violine, a very talented, concentrated woman, whose attention to the first violine was jubilatoire to watch ! We could feel the vibes of the music in all our body because we were so close. My wife who was not so interested in classical music was totally impressed and seduced !

One of the world's great concert halls. We had tickets to see the Orchester Wiener Akademie and the Singverein der Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Wien perform Bach and sat on the floor. We then noticed Hadelich was playing the Beethoven violin concerto a few hours later and bought tickets on the balcony for that. They also had a Haydn later that night. So, watch for multiple performances of completely different programs the same day. The sound in the hall is unworldly beautiful:every note crisp and clean, no muddled sounds. Hearing a vocal performance there was like nothing I've experienced elsewhere. On the balcony, the sound loses a touch of its crispness, but it's still incredible. The seats on the floor are all flat one behind the other, there is no change in height between rows. So, if you are petite or have a very tall person in front of you sightlines may be hampered, though we had no issues: but something to consider when ordering.

Great tour of the building, performance halls and practice areas. Very informative guide. Not to be missed on a visit to Vienna if you are interested in architecture /classical music. Nowhere to store bags or coats so don't overdress or take too much baggage with you!! Great value for money (10euro pp)

As we were admiring this famous building from all sides, my wife spotted that a guided tour was about to begin! The starting point of the tour was the magnificent entrance hall of the Musikverein. We learned a great number of facts about the Musical Society and the construction of the building. It was opened in 1870. The most striking for us was the fact that there are about 800 concerts in this building each year! Upstairs, we first visited the smaller Brahms concert hall. We were told that there are concerts for children there regularly! What a wise decision to educate future lovers of classical music! Of course, the focal point of the guided tour was the Golden Concert Hall in its full grandeur. Each January 1st we watch the live broadcast of the Neujahrskonzert der Wiener Philharmoniker from here. But we did not know that there are actually three of those concerts: on December 30th, 31st and January 1st! Because of the acoustics, all of the decoration is wooden, even if it looks like marble or metal: the columns, the statues, the panels on the wall, even the organ pipes! There is a small free space between the fake wooden ceiling and the actual ceiling, also to enhance the acoustics (the actual pipes of the organ are behind the fake ones). We also did not know that there is a ballroom directly beneath the Golden Hall and it is believed that it also contributes to the fantastic acoustical experience. We could take pictures in the Golden Hall (in other parts of the building taking pictures was forbidden). Our tour ended with a visit to one of the four newest concert halls of the Musikverein, the Metal Hall. Along with the Glass Hall, the Stone Hall and the Wooden Hall it is located directly beneath the little square in front of the entrance. We would like to warmheartedly recommend this unforgettable tour to everyone!

Went for a Mozart / Vivaldi concert on a Wed night. Need to leave jackets at the closet place with a fee. Water bottles not allowed into the hall. Photos during concert not allowed. But the performance was good. Should experience it if you are in Vienna.

Unbelievably good Mozart concert at this stunning venue - The Golden Hall. I have seen a performance at a church before and there are many venues across the city with Mozart and other classical and opera concerts. However this one is really special. It's the most famous place to hear and see it and the classical orchestra and opera singers - especially the lady are absolutely amazing. Almost got goosebumps. They even dress up in traditional costume and the conductor is a bit of a comedian too . Make sure if you come to Vienna you add this to the things to do.
