Ron Geesin & Roger Waters – Music From The Body

A completely superfluous album from Ron Geesin & Roger Waters with the exception of the final track 'Give Birth to a Smile' featuring an uncredited entire band performance from Pink Floyd. It's also an absolute corker of a tune.

I think this release sounds better than the reissue/US. I’ve always enjoyed this album by waters and it’s clearly a fun late night spin post evening. It has a few moments up there in realm of “IF”, Green is color, but short of “fearless” or FOS from a lyrical perspective. It reminds me of a lesser “More” where every other song plays like a up/down ride.

I always recall this as being way stranger than it actually is. The first track sets you up for thinking this is going going to be an album of weird body noises. But there are instead lots of soft contributions from Waters- very folksy in fact. Those tracks alone make this a solid record. The stuff coming from Geesin is also quite interesting for the most part, very driving modern classical-like music, with piano and guitar, and weird sounds. Stuff I generally like.

I have a copy of this album with this label - but my rim text is different. On my copy, the upper text starts "ALL RIGHTS. . . " and it starts level with the bottom of "Roger" and goes around to the same point by the Harvest logo. The lower text starts "UNAUTHORISED....." and starts level with the bottom oh "HARVEST" and goes round to finish by the second '3' of 33 1/3. The matrix also reads SHVL 4008 A - 2 and SHVL 4008 B - 2.

I cannot find this label variant anywhere on this listing. Can anyone tell me exactly what I have? Thanks.

I know I purchased my copy in the late 80s, and it was new. Presumably it is one of the UK 1987 editions, but no! In fact, I cannot match the labels to any listed here! Green, with the artists' faces, but the wording under the green line is "Manufactured in the UK by EMI Records Limited." I guess I have yet another variant - and all I wanted to do was sell my copy.

Exist with 2 obi, each have same color but different price. One is 2000 Yens, the other is 2200 Yens

I was not aware this was an "unofficial release". I know Restless Retro were a subsidiary of Enigma, who were distributed by Capitol Records at the time, and Restless Retro (and Enigma Retro) were doing a number of late 60's/early 70's reissues at the time, including stuff by Captain Beefheart, Alice Cooper and the GTO's. I would never think Restless Retro would be considered a company that made things unofficially. Thanks for letting me know.
