Great out of print Roger Waters CD!

I had it on cassette, but my house burned down. So I came here to Amazon to buy it on CD. Only one sane person had it for a decent price (used). Everyone else wants $200 since it's rare and out of print. It's weird and quirky (1970, after all) but interesting, and mostly calm instrumentals. Only 4 songs have words. But NOT worth $200! If you find a sane person who is selling it at a decent price, go for it!

One Word: Interesting....

"Music from The Body" is basically a soundtrack for a film version of Anthony Smith's book "The Body", written in 1968. Actually the whole soundtrack was re-recorded for a vinyl release because Ron wanted to make it sound better than it originaly did. This is probably more of a Ron Geesin album than Roger Waters solo attempt. However, the team work these two put together to make this is fantastic. I'll admit this is probably not for everyone. Mostly fans of early Pink Floyd or Ron Geesin himself would be at all intersted in this. It consistis of 22 tracks that feature some Waters "folksy" solo guitar work and a strange collection of short cuts & sound effects from Ron Geesin. This album is best known for it's final track "Give Birth to a Smile". If this track seems to be a bit more substansion that the others, you're probably right. The rest of Pink Floyd made a guest appearance on the song but went uncredited on the lp. Only a little while after this was recorded, Geesin would be called to help out with Pink Floyd's 23 minute epic "Aton Heart Mother" from an album of the same name. All in all this is a decent recording that flows more like an album not a soundtrack, and a gem for any Geesin or Floyd fan.

this is a strange group of progressive rock songs set to body noises. This was the soundtrack to the film of this. Which is out there somewhere? One song features Pink Floyd , the rest are roger waters songs. It's a decent effort but probably for collectors or eclectic music or pink Floyd completists like me. The cd sounds very good and it fit into my collection very well.

本作に対しては、ピンクフロイド関連の作品ってことで興味を抱くリスナーさんが大半だと思われますが、基本的には同名のセミ・ドキュメンタリー映画のサントラであり、大筋においてロンギーシンの作品集といった趣なので、いかにもフロイドらしい作風やコンセプトを期待しすぎると泣きをみるでしょう。一般的な普通のリスナーさんからすれば、珍妙なだけの駄作・怪作と斬って棄てられる可能性が高い内容です。自分は、高校生の頃に中古のアナログ盤で買ったのが本作との出逢いでしたが、その珍妙な部分に面白味を感じて、当時は結構よく聴いてました(笑)。ピンクフロイドが後に発表する「原子心母」に至る布石という点においては重要な意味を持つコラボレーションと言えないこともないので、重箱の隅を突っつくタイプのマニア気質なリスナーさんなら試してみても良いのではないでしょうか？ただし、ひとことで言ってしまえば「前衛」の部類に入る作風であり、万人向きでないことは、きつく念を押しておきますので、騙された！金返せ！等の苦情に対する責任は負いませんよ(笑)
