My four years at The Mount have provided me with real world experience, friends for a lifetime and the opportunity to develop and grow. My first year was during COVID and I really wasn't sure if my school could make Freshman year meaningful, academically challenging and allow me to connect with my teachers and fellow students. I struggled my first year academically, but my teachers reached out to ensure I was getting the support I needed and even looped in my parents. The teachers really worked hard at making sure students knew eachother and had virtual opportunities to work with eachother and when we physically went back to school, the administrators and teachers all made it possible for us to recoup some of Freshman year. To date, I've received support for college, personal concerns and academic guidance from my teachers, guidance counselor, college counselor, the head of school, the principal and financial aid counselor. I've been given so many valuable opportunities.
As an African American at this predominantly white all girl's catholic school, I was worried about not fitting in at the mount. However, the mount's student body and staff gave me the most immersive high school experience I could have only dreamed about. The small student body (between 250-300 students) made it very easy to have personal connections with teachers which enhances the student's academic experience. Teachers are easily accessibly and eager to help their students. They are also able to focus on students 1-on-1 and offer personalized help outside of class. The small class sizes makes it possible for seniors to attend the senior trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida which every Mountie looks forward to from their freshman year! The school is filled with one of a kind traditions that every student holds near and dear to their hearts long after graduating.
MSDA is a great environment to get you ready for college. The teachers seem to.really care about the students, as does the Administration. The teachers get to know who uou are and are always willing to help. Our head of school knows everyone and our counseling department takes the time to know us as well.
