In November 2019, the Butler Sanctuary revised the Red Loop (see photos). This loop added and combined several paths, and in the future it will be revised again (to include the old Orange outer northern trail). This may seem confusing, but the Sanctuary wanted to phase out lesser used paths, and consolidate main paths for better navigation and maintenance. Its still a real gem, and well recommended!!

This trail starts near the Tea House and pond in wonderful Leonard Park. The trails are marked with different colored Crane markers (see photo). This is a lovely trail, once you get a short distance into the trail you lose the noises from 684. The trails can get muddy but they are mostly well maintained. There is a good variety as well.
Muddy in autumn. Good to avoid swampy fern trail and take shortcut at white trail if traveling with dogs. Otherwise excellent. Good distance for a vigorous short walk. Not too challenging.
