Morwenna Banks

Morwenna Banks is an award-winning actor, writer and producer. 

Her acting credits include lead roles in Skins,  Shameless, Thick of It,  Saxondale, Vic and Bob’s Catterick, Ruddy Hell it’s Harry and Paul and as writer performer in the multi award-winning sketch show Absolutely. She been twice nominated as Best Female Comedy Performer  at  The British Comedy Awards.  In the US she appeared in Dream On for HBO and as a writer-performer on Saturday Night Live for NBC.   Most recently she in the UK has appeared in the ITV drama ‘A Confession’ and in the Sky/FX series ‘Breeders’. With Jo Brand she created, wrote and appeared in 2 seasons of the acclaimed Channel 4 comedy ‘Damned’.  She is a prolific radio actor, recently heard in  ‘Gloomsbury’ ,  ‘Absolutely’, ‘ Shush’ written with Rebecca Front and most recently in ’Skeletons in the Cupboard’ with Alison Steadman. She wrote the Radio Drama Goodbye starring Olivia Colman which won the Tinniswood Award for Best scripted drama at the 2015 Audio Awards  She provides the voices for many animations including Peppa Pig, Paddington, Robozuna and Monkey Dust  and she won Best Voice Performance at the 2014 British Animation Awards.  As a writer her work includes the feature ‘Miss You Already’ starring Toni Collette and Drew Barrymore Dir. Catharine Hardwicke and she recently worked on adapting the a new series for Apple TV from ‘Slow Horses’ by Mick Herron. She has finished working on adapting  ‘Funny Girl’ by Nick Hornby for Sky/Potboiler and, as a feature film for Studio Canal, she recently adapted ’The Break’ by Marian Keyes.
