In January, TMZ reported E'Dena Hines' killer, Lamar Davenport, was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Davenport was convicted of manslaughter in May 2018.
Tragic end: This comes after the actor was accused of molesting his step-granddaughter E'Dena Hines who was murdered in 2015. Seen in 2008
He was the boyfriend of Hines at the time when he took her life with a knife in August 2015 outside of their NYC apartment. She was only 33.
Davenport was acquitted of second-degree murder after his lawyer argued he was on PCP when he attacked E'Dena.
However, a judge subsequently found him guilty of first-degree manslaughter and gave him 20 years behind bars.
At the sentencing Davenport's mother yelled 'Morgan Freeman molested her and he caused this' in reference to past accusations Freeman had denied.
During the trial, Davenport's attorney Beth Unger said that Hines, an actress who had appeared in Freeman's 2014 film 5 Flights Up, 'disclosed to Lamar Davenport and others that [Freeman] engaged in a sexually-inappropriate relationship with her.'
In the January hearing, Davenport said he was sorry for the incident and didn't 'remember what happened' in the killing of Hines.
Freeman was first linked to Hines in a 2009 National Enquirer report; he issued a statement in 2012 calling the allegations 'defamatory fabrications from the tabloid media designed to sell papers,' while Hines called them 'untrue' and 'hurtful' in a statement.'
The man of the night: The event acknowledged Denzel Washington's work in films; seen with his wife of 35 years, Paulette
