Tim Meadows is revealing the special connection Molly Shannon shares with his children.

During a Samsung 837 event in New York City on Thursday where the SNL veterans debuted their new 90s-inspired spoof marketing campaign, Meadows, 63, shared with PEOPLE that his kids grew up attending surf camp with Shannon's children. Shannon is mom to daughter Stella, 20, and son Nolan, 19, while Meadows is dad to two kids, Isaiah and Julian.

The actor also revealed that Shannon, 59, wrote a college recommendation letter for New York University on behalf of Meadows' son. "My son got in," he happily shared.

"Isn't that amazing?" the actress, 59, chimed in. "Thanks to our Molly," Meadows added.

While the former Saturday Night Live star didn't share which of his kids attends the university, he added that his son is currently studying music. "Music production basically... he's a funny kid, but I don't want him to get into comedy. I don't want to compete with my own blood."

In September, Shannon shared a post on Instagram about dropping her daughter Stella off at college.

The video began with Shannon posing with her arms around her daughter as they stood in front of moving bins and suitcases. The post, set to the track "How You’ve Grown" by 10,000 Maniacs, then flashed to a video of Stella explaining how she's sending her mom a care package.

"We are both #LivingOurBestLife! For everyone going to college, which type is your parent? Are they also living their best life, checking in a little too much, or unsure of what to do with their free time?" she captioned the post.

While at the Samsung 837 event, Shannon also told PEOPLE that her daughter's favorite show to watch is Gilmore Girls, even though the series aired back in the early 2000s.

In fact, being able to have the best binge-watching experience possible is one of the reasons both Shannon and Meadows decided to partner with the innovate technology brand in the first place.

"Sometimes I watch and I'm like, 'Oh, it looks kind of weird [on TV].' But now, if she's going to watch Gilmore Girls, if we get the new upscale Samsung TV, it will be the best picture," says Shannon. "What AI upscaling does is just incredible."
